On November 14 I attended the innovation workshop. Our task was to come up with ideas in how to incorporate sustainability into the curriculum and research. During the brainstorming period, my team came up with 44 possible ideas. Yet when we referred back to the problem statement, we found that we had become unfocused in addressing curriculum and research. The idea we chose to prototype was a course for business analytic students. In this course they would design a website and analyze the data of real time energy uses in each of the buildings. Then they would compare the monetary and Environemntal cross associated with green alternatives. Giving students the ability to examine real time usage of the school would inspire them to individually conserve and be more sustainable. I was really surprised that we had enough time to brainstorm and prototype in an hour. I would suggest extending it to an hour and a half. I enjoyed myself and look forward to attending more of these workshops in the future!
